Why do ywam
This might surprise you, but most students that come to DTS do not believe that God loves them. Honestly, who can blame them? I am flawed, broken, and more sinful than I care to admit. What about me is worthy of being loved at all, especially by the King of all Kings? We are completely undone because that kind of love that is so undeserved, yet so freely given. If you have no idea what I am talking about, please, please come do a DTS. There is a God who loves you more than you can comprehend and He is just bursting with excitement to be able to shower that love upon you.
It says in Genesis that we are made in the image of God Therefore, by knowing more of who God is and how we bear His image we will ultimately learn more about ourselves. In my DTS, one of the biggest things God spoke over me was my identity. By learning to hear and recognize His voice, He taught me who I was as an individual and how He uniquely designed me. I found out who He said I am instead of what society and culture were trying to make me out to be. I am to be set apart, and so are you.
God has so much more in store for you and your life. Are you willing to give Him the chance to reveal that to you? We are all called to make God known, wherever we are. In Matthew, the last words of Jesus before He ascends to heaven are:. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you. This is the charge the Jesus leaves with his disciples. I believe if we consider ourselves followers of the Lord Jesus Christ then this verse applies to us.
A part of DTS is also a month outreach which can be anywhere in the world. Newcastle, Australia, is just one of the many awesome places that you can go — but along with sunny days there are awesome beaches and wicked surf!? Staff and students facilitate different teams for the kids that go out to skate at skate parks, go surfing, swimming, fishing, concerts, sports — you name it and Youth Street has probably done it.
It will give you a great opportunity to grow in areas of leadership and responsibility. DTS is pretty relaxed — there are no long essays due or intense reports, but prepare to be challenged in the way you view learning!?
DTS is not just about learning about God but also about putting what you learn into action. You will be serving the base in a really practical way on while on DTS, and also be given opportunities to serve using your God-given gifts and talents.
Youth Street, work duties and especially outreach will grow your desire to serve in a practical way. While on DTS there is lots of time for awesome hangouts with your fellow students and staff. After a DTS, you can become a YWAM staff member and serve as a missionary all over the world, or continue on to complete second level courses or work toward a degree from the University of the Nations.
YWAM currently operates in more than 1, locations in at least countries worldwide. If the individual is a full-time missionary with YWAM and has a missions account with the University of the Nations Kona Foundation, donations can be made online or by check.
For further questions, please contact the finance office or the YWAM missionary you desire to support. Part of championing young people is believing in their gifting, calling, and ability. We like to give youth the chance to lead us forward, trusting in their ability to hear the voice of God.
God was constantly calling young people into positions of leadership and influence. We want to release as many young people into leadership as possible, doing our best to eliminate any obstacle that would keep them from fulfilling their God-given calling.
We have people in YWAM as young as 9 and as old as 90! We have babies, toddlers, teenagers, young adults, grandparents, and even great-grandparents! Many of our campuses have numerous families serving together in missions. Some even go on outreach together! Like we mentioned, age is not a limiting factor for us in YWAM.
We need the generations to be represented among us and we're grateful that God continues to bring people of all ages to join our mission. Evangelism is at the heart of everything we do because we believe everyone has the right to hear the gospel message and have a chance to accept Christ. Training is how we multiply. YWAM started our first training school in and since then have continued to add more and more missionary training programs.
We have ministries that reach out to orphans, refugees, prostitutes, and the poor. We love to work hard and show the love of Jesus through a practical expression of compassion and mercy ministry. This is our entry-level school that serves as the doorway to the rest of Youth With A Mission.
In short, a DTS is a 5 to 6-month long program designed to train and equip students for missions. DTS is a life-changing experience with the potential to completely transform your life.
Our founder, Loren Cunningham, is the first missionary to personally travel to every country in the world. As a young man he would pour over the world atlas, learning about all the different regions in the world. Different places have different needs, and different needs call for different responses.
Each location has its own unique expression of ministry. Some build homes for the poor , others distribute the Bible door-to-door , and some even have a medical ship! One of the most exciting things about participating in YWAM is getting to work with people from many different nations. Being multinational is something that distinguishes us. Currently, our movement has more than 18, full-time volunteers spread across the globe. Not everyone is aware that all YWAM staff, from our founder to the newest recruit, practice dependence on God for provision.
God has provided everything from toothpaste and laundry soap to airfares and buildings! How can a global organization function without a head office? Many find it hard to believe that YWAM can successfully operate with our decentralized structure. Every location is expected to operate with the same purpose, beliefs, and values that God has spoken to YWAM.
