Can you haggle mattress prices

The price is what it is. We joke here at the Slumber Yard that Saatva would rather burn a mattress than offer a discount on it. That, of course, is probably not true, but sometimes it feels that way. We touched on this a little above—for most online brands, you should search for a coupon code before you purchase.

Most brands and stores will offer bigger discounts the more that you spend. For example, if you purchase a bed frame as well as a mattress, the discount will likely be larger than if you just purchased the mattress by itself. Clearly, the prices and discounts differ by brand, but bundles are a clever way to nab a deal, especially if you were already looking for a new set of sheets, a new bed frame, or a new pillow.

Mattresses are no exception. The warranties usually only cover the original purchaser and do not extend outside of the United States.

These usually have tiers. After the year mark, the warranty is a lot less favorable. We just want to point out that lifetime warranties are great, but they generally have extra stipulations. Most online brands offer some sort of trial period, whether it be nights—as is the case with the Casper Mattress and many others—or nights—as is the case with DreamCloud.

These trials allow you plenty of time to test out your bed. For example, most beds on Amazon come with Prime day shipping, while through the brand website it might take up to 10 days.

To entice customers to give the mattress a try, Casper and its rivals have introduced another innovation: a free, no-hassle return policy.

All three companies let you try their mattresses for free for days, and then return them if you're not satisfied. The big downside with these companies is a limited selection. Each company sells just one model though it's available in a variety of sizes. All three companies have targeted the middle of the firmness scale. That means if you prefer a mattress that is particularly firm, or particularly soft, these products won't be a good option.

Also, some people find conventional coil mattresses more comfortable than high-tech memory foam ones. These mattresses do not come in a box the way foam mattresses do, though there is at least one online-only retailer that sells them.
