Saito accompanies Cobb and his team on the job he hired them to do and in some ways helps plan it; when finding a place to sedate Fischer to get him into the dream world, Saito buys out an airline so the team can accompany Robert Fischer on the hour flight to Los Angeles. In the first level of the dream, the plan goes wrong, and it is revealed that Fischer has had his subconscious trained to fight Extractors.
In a violent car chase, Saito receives a mortal gunshot wound to the chest. The team brings him to a warehouse where they try to keep him alive as long as possible. In the next level of the dream, the Hotel , Saito simply watches. Due to the dream being another layer down, his gunshot wound hurts less and there is no blood, enabling him to function normally.
After learning about Eames's forging ability, he accidentally confuses a projection of Peter Browning for a disguised Eames, uttering the line, " I see you've changed! Eames then comes up behind Browning and he realizes his mistake.
Saito, a wealthy businessman, enlists DiCaprio's character to shut down a rival company. Cobb targets Robert Michael Fischer Cillian Murphy , the son of a dying business mogul, and assembles a team that will allow him to create the ideal circumstances for the operation. Meanwhile, Saito buys an actual airline which allows the dream team to execute their plan during a hour flight.
From there, the various subplots of Inception become more complicated. Saito accompanies Cobb's team during the hour flight, but doesn't have any dream skills to offer. He's only there to ensure that Cobb immediately receives his reward after executing the plan. Cobb wants to reunite with his two children, but he can't legally enter the United States after being identified as a suspect in his wife's death. In the first dream level , Saito is shot and wounded, which is the result of Arthur not identifying that Fischer had militarized his subconscious to prevent any type of extraction.
Cobb then reveals that the high potency of their mechanical compound means that Saito, or any of them for that matter, can't wake up after a dream state death. Ariadne and Cobb went to limbo to get Fisher back, Cobb simply just stayed in limbo after Ariadne a Fisher left to save Saito. The most common theory as to why Cobb is younger then Saito in limbo is because Cobb knew limbo wasn't reality so he projected himself not aging, whereas Saito lost his mind down there and thought he was aging and not in a dream.

Cobb enters limbo through death a long time after Saito enters limbo through death. The order of events is: Fischer dies in level-3 reaching Limbo Cobb and Ariadne sleep in level-3 reaching Limbo Saito dies in level-1 reaching Limbo Mal stabs Cobb in Limbo and gets shot Ariadne and Fischer kill themselves in Limbo riding layers of kicks and reaching level-1, and eventually reality The van in level-1 sinks with Cobb and Saito's corpse, everyone else hides somewhere safe.
Cobb drowns here Cobb finds Saito, very old, and both kill themselves reaching reality When the van in level-1 sinks, Cobb drowns, and re-enters Limbo. Saito is old because those minutes between both deaths felt like decades in limbo. Improve this answer.
